Baroque palace · Historic gardens · Collections · Wine tastings

About the experience

The Palace of the Counts of Anadia is a private manor house whose history goes back to the 16th century and which took on its baroque palatial form in the 18th century. It sits within a fully walled 40-hectare estate of historic gardens, vegetable plots, vineyards and woodland, listed as a site of Public Interest since 2014.

Open to the public since 2018 at the initiative of Miguel Paes do Amaral, 8th Count of Anadia, the palace welcomes guided tours of the interiors, the collections (18th-century tiles, costumes and accessories, biscuit porcelain, furniture, paintings and engravings) and the gardens. More recently, it has added tastings of Conde de Anadia wines in the old wine cellar.

For guests at the Solar it is a natural complement to the Dão: a few kilometres away, a palace still lived in by its family and a first-hand account of the region's farming and winemaking history.
